Keeping it Positive

After working eight straight days of 12-14 hour shifts in preparation for Valentine's Day Florabella came in this morning to find that a pop-up flower stand has set up shop across the street from us. So sad that this kind of aggressive business practice has come to sweet little University Heights. We are a small boutique florist and rely on holidays like this to help us cover our expenses during the lean months. Is it fair? Is it proper? We went over to talk to the lady setting up shop and were told "It's just business." We think about that a lot around here. "It's just business" usually means 'I'm about to do something lame to you but I want a pass because it's not personal.' Nothing could be more personal to us than this Business that we put our heart and soul in to every day. Please support your local, neighborhood florist on this holiday - the ones who are there for you year in and year out.
